From the camping a small walking near the stream will lead you to Peveragno, at first village of chesstnuts, after village of mulberries, today known for its strawberries. The historical centre of this village is one of the best preserved in this area, around the first building called "Ricetto", has spread step by step all around, with its characteristic houses decorated. The town, placed in a well protected dell, belongs (from a linguistical point of view) to the old Provençal area, of which it occupies the eastern section and where you can discover all its traditions, sounds and dances. Lots of sports, social and cultural events are part of this appealing place, for anyone who chose Camping Il Melo for a relaxing holiday. Lots of natural reserves and parks are a few kilometers far from us such as the Natural Park Alta Valle Pesio with the famous Carthusian monastery, the natural Oasis of Crava and the Natural Park Alpi Marittime with its Faunal Centre Men and Wolfs. Or you can relax in the near Thermal Baths of Lurisia,Valdieri or Vinadio and visit Sant'Anna di Vinadio, the highest Sanctuary in Europe (2010 mt).
10 km far from Peveragno, you will find Cuneo, the big town surrounded by the Alps, with its historical centre and famous arcades where people walk, meet and go shopping into very elegant shops. The camping is linked to Cuneo Railways Station with a comfortable bus service. 20 km far there is Mondovì, an historical town from which you can enjoy a delightful view, and Vicoforte with its Sanctuary, whose dome is the biggest elliptic one in Europe. Then, you will not miss a visit to the Bossea Grottos, rich in stalactites and stalagmites which still hide the bones remained of the most ancient inhabitant of these grottos, the Ursus Spaeleus.
Towards the river Po, don't miss Turin the capital of Piedmont (one hour and half of train), is a charming university city where art and history meet; discover it walking under the long arcades that cross the city centre. Back towards the camping, there is Racconigi with its royal Castle and its magnificent park where every year storks come and build nests. Towards the city of Alba, still in the province of Cuneo, there are the "Langhe", a well-known area all over the world for its truffles and famous wines such as Barolo, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbaresco, etc. And finally around 80 km far from our camping there is the Ligurian Coast (motorway Mondovì-Savona) with its sunny beaches and characteristic villages. In any of these places, you will find plenty of nice restaurants where traditional local recipes of the Piedmontese cuisine are served.
